The New Orleans Saints are on the road for a second week in a row. They travel to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. The Saints have boasted a dominant defense through the first two games of the year but they will be facing their toughest test to this date. New Orleans is looking to find consistent offense for the first time this year.
The Packers are coming off of a tough loss to the Atlanta Falcons. They’re looking for a different outcome against this NFC South team. In order for each team to achieve their goal, these are the matchups they need to win.
WR Chris Olave vs. CB Jaire Alexander
It’ll be interesting to see how often these two match up. Olave has been great this year and has been the most prolific weapon through the air. The Saints still have Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Alexander stayed on one side of the field. When these two do line up against each other, it’ll be the toughest matchup Olave has faced this year.
QB Jordan Love vs. Saints pass rush
The Packers have only allowed 2 sacks this year, but this matchup is about more than sacking Jordan Love. Love has done a good job scrambling when nothing is open downfield. The Saints defensive line needs to make sure they stay in their pass rush lanes to ensure there are gaps for Love to run through. Bryce Young was able to get a few first downs, last week. when the Saints didn’t maintain pass rush discipline.
DE Cameron Jordan vs. RT Zach Tom
Cameron Jordan is off to one of his better starts to a season in recent memory. He’s been strong in the run game as usual. He’s also registered 11 pressures this year already. Lining up primarily on the offense’s right side, Jordan will battle Zach Tom. Tom has lost only one pass block rep, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
