Most people remember Chris Moyles as the self appointed "saviour of Radio 1" with a mouth to match the size of his giant ratings.
At its peak Moyles pulled in over seven million listeners with his gobby style of broadcasting hosting from 2004 to 2012.
But he says he has changed and viewers may see him quietly getting through the first days in camp.
Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "All my friends have said ‘this is great, people will get to know the real you’ but I am the real me and they say ‘yes but as opposed to’ – so I’m not sure what people are expecting.
"People that don’t like me will just expect me to go in there and be a bolshie gobsh**e but hopefully my listeners will know that I’m not really like that. I won’t always be the loudest in the camp, there will be personalities in there louder than me, and it’s not in my DNA to keep up with that, I’ll happily sit in the corner and sit and watch and come up with a funnier side once the dust has settled.
"There is a difference when I’m wearing headphones in the studio to what I’m like with my friends down the pub or out for dinner. The radio version is just a really hyper, turned up, version – people forget I’m paid to talk for three and a half hours a day."
Chris added: "There is a difference between radio and real life me, but I flip the switch when I go to work and I’m in radio mode."
The star went on to admit that he was worried about his mouth in the camp. As well as not wanting to eat horrible meals in Bushtucker trials, he has admitted to having quite a foul mouth off air.
"My biggest concern is the fact that in real life I swear a lot. I really enjoy swearing and I think swearing done properly and in the right context with the right word can be really funny," Chris explained.
"It is something that we’re not allowed to do on the radio so there’s a switch, which goes on subconsciously on the radio that I don’t swear like when you’re meeting your girlfriend's parents for the first time – you just don’t. But in real life I do and that’s my only worry that I might be a bit sweary, especially if I’m a bit scared and hanging by my ankles over alligators there’s a very good chance."
Moyles now follows a strict diet and is a fitness fanatic compared to his Radio 1 days, but he will not be showing off his body in the Aussie sun.
"I know women have come a long way and it’s great but I’m not just there to be ogled at by women. I find that offensive but I haven’t decided if I’m going to shower or not yet but that could be the lowest rating show ever," he explained.
"I’m a germaphobe so I will be clean and fresh but I have a horrible feeling that the waterfall won’t be the warmest… no one likes a cold shower but it is what it is and after a few days you’ll probably just zone out."
And despite being popular, Chris has little ambition and says he doesn't expect to win and be king.
"I am not going to win. I don’t think I’m going to win. It’s not even on the agenda. It’s not even in the back of my mind of ‘you never know’ – I genuinely don’t want to go first and anything else is a bonus. If I can get to the second round of evictions, then I’ll be happy," Chris shared.
"Also Let’s not blow the whole ‘Ant and Dec wanted me to do this for years’ thing out of proportion. They may have said ‘yeah it’ll be great if he did it’ once but let’s be real. If they were to have a hit list of who they’d want in, maybe Elton John and Alan Shearer would be higher up the list than me but they’re going to be delighted I’m in there.
"You can always tell because I love the show and watch it every year and I always watch it and you can always seen a little glint in their eye especially Declan’s eye when there’s someone in there that they know. A couple of years ago with Vernon (Kay) you could just see the delight on Declan’s face when Vernon was covered in kangaroo balls or whatever it was.
"I am looking forward to that first moment of seeing them where we’ll just have that look without saying a word. They’re looking at me going ‘why are you here?’ and I’m looking at them going ‘I really don’t know.’
