Chris Jones is one of the top pending free agents in the NFL this year, but it sure sounds like he’s going to stay with the Kansas City Chiefs. During the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, Jones declared he’s going to be back “next year and the year after,” saying he’s going to help Kansas City go for the threepeat.
Whether it’s his heart or the alcohol talking, Jones seems motivated to stay with the team he’s won three Super Bowls with.
“We ain’t done yet! Kansas City, we will be back here next year!” he shouted “And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t goin’ nowhere, baby! I will be here this year, next year, and the year after!”

Jones played out this season on a one-year contract, which was worth $19.5 million. He and the Chiefs were unable to come to a long-term deal before the 2023 season, but a multi-year extension could be in the cards this offseason.
Jones earned his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection this year and was also a first-team All-Pro for the second consecutive season, recording 10.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hits and 13 tackles for a loss.
As one of the prized free agents, Jones has a ton of leverage when it comes to negotiations with the Chiefs, but his agent Michael Katz may have lost some with Jones’ declaration Wednesday. After hearing Jones say he’s coming back, Katz chimed in on Twitter.

The negotiating period of free agency begins on March 11, with the market officially opening on March 14.
