Chris Hemsworth details major lifestyle changes since learning of Alzheimer’s risk

Chris Hemsworth has shared the changes he’s made to his lifestyle after discovering his predisposition to developing Alzheimer’s disease.

In 2022, the Marvel star found out he’s “between eight and 10 times” likelier to develop the progressive disorder than the general population.

While working on his docuseries Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, the 40-year-old discovered he carries two copies of the gene APOE4, which studies have linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

A year on from his health revelation, Hemsworth revealed he has altered his workout regime to focus on improving his brain health

Hemsworth told Men’s Health: “I’ve always been pretty consistent with my exercise commitments, but lately, I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself without any outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness.

“My weight fluctuates a lot due to differing roles and also my own interests in regards to challenging my body in different ways, I’m lifting less frequently than I was and I’m incorporating more cardio and endurance workouts which I much prefer than heavy body-building style sessions.”

Last November, the Thor star revealed he was taking a step back from Hollywood following his health revelation.

However in June, the Ghostbusters actor said his comments were “blown out of proportion”.

Sharing the real reason why he has streamlined his work commitments, Hemsworth told ET: “I wanted to take [time] off because I’ve been working for 10 years, and I’ve got three kids that I want to spend more time with.

“I’ve been running from project to project for a long time, just to avoid being unemployed or that fear that it’s the last job you’ll get, you know?

“I want to be more curated about the choices I make, things I immerse myself in or I’m involved in. I want to have greater value and work with great people.”
