Marvel star Chris Evans recently shared his favorite MCU movie during a spotlight panel at Emerald City Comic Con. Evans, known for his portrayal of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, across the franchise, revealed that his personal top pick is the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Evans expressed his fondness for The Winter Soldier, citing it as his favorite Marvel movie that he was a part of. He highlighted the experience of working on the film, noting that it allowed for more creative risks and a deeper exploration of his character.
Released in 2014 and directed by the Russo Brothers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier follows Steve Rogers as he uncovers a conspiracy within S.H.I.E.L.D. while facing off against the enigmatic Winter Soldier. The movie, praised for its spy thriller elements, remains one of the highest-rated MCU films on Rotten Tomatoes at 91%.
Evans' portrayal of Captain America alongside Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth's Thor has been a cornerstone of the MCU since its inception. His choice of The Winter Soldier as his favorite installment resonates with many Marvel fans.
During his appearance at the convention, Evans also touched upon the current state of superhero movies. Following the monumental success of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, there has been skepticism surrounding the genre's future. Evans acknowledged the challenges of creating quality superhero films, emphasizing the difficulty in producing exceptional projects.
Since his character's conclusion in Avengers: Endgame, Evans has not reprised his role in the MCU. While rumors of a potential return persist, Evans has expressed reluctance to disrupt Captain America's poignant send-off.
Looking ahead, Evans is set to star alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the upcoming Christmas action movie, Red One, slated for release on November 15, 2024.
