Channing Tatum is replacing Chris Evans in the upcoming Apple space race flick, “Project Artemis,” just as ”The Flight Attendant“ executive producer Greg Berlanti is coming on to helm the project after Jason Bateman’s recent departure over reported creative differences, Deadline reported Thursday.
Evans’ departure from the reunion with his “Avengers” co-star Scarlet Johansson comes amid the 41-year-old’s “scheduling conflicts” linked to “Pain Hustlers” and “Red One,” according to the outlet.
“Pain Hustlers” is a crime drama co-starring Emily Blunt while Amazon’s “Red One” is a holiday film that will see Evans team up with Dwayne Johnson.
New York native Berlanti, 50, is most well-known for his television contributions, including having developed ”Supergirl” — also for The CW, like “Riverdale“ — and writing for “Dawson’s Creek.” The early aughts teen hit aired on The CW’s predecessor, The WB.
The film will be New York native Berlanti’s first directorial outing since the LGBTQ teen romantic dramedy, “Love, Simon,” in 2018. Based on Becky Albertalli’s book, “Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda” film has since gotten the small screen treatment from Hulu in the form of spinoff series, “Love, Victor.”
