Chris Eubank Sr. has picked three fighters that he would like to have on his side in a battle, with Mike Tyson being selected.
Chris Eubank Sr Would ‘Go To War’ With Mike Tyson
Chris Eubank Sr. is one of the most notorious boxing stars to come out of the United Kingdom and was the WBO middleweight and super-middleweight champion between 1990-1995.
Throughout his boxing career, Eubank was a favourite amongst fans with his well-spoken manner and approach to fights.
The boxing legend has kept in the public eye with appearances on several TV shows including Gogglebox and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
One of the biggest moments in boxing came in 1991 during a rematch with Michael Watson, as Eubank delivered an uppercut that would alter Watson’s life forever.
Watson went into a coma for 40 days and endured six brain operations to remove a blood clot. The two would meet again on Piers Morgan’s life stories which delved into the life of Chris Eubank Sr.
Chris Eubank Sr would keep his name in the sport alive, as he began to coach and corner his son Chris Eubank Jr., who is now the IBO middleweight champion.
Eubank Sr. is no longer the coach for his son and the two appear to have a struggling relationship which may improve after Eubank Jr. fights Conor Benn.
In the mean time, Eubank Sr. has started his own show called Call Chris Eubank, which is where the UK boxing icon answers fans questions.
One fan asked an interesting question, as Eubank Sr. had to pick three fighters that he would like on his side if he had to go to battle.
Eubank Sr. said (Via Call Chris Eubank): “The first person that I would have at my back is James Toney. He is an energy which has no harness. This is a very, scary man, who doesn’t use reason, and that is the only weapon we use, he doesn’t use this particular weapon.
“He will eat you. He will cook you. He will eat you in public, this guy. He has to have been one of the greatest middleweights of all time.
“He is a beautiful example to choose of how not to behave, but if I were going to choose someone to go into battle, I wouldn’t need anybody else other than him, he is like me – he is a monster, only I am a kind of gentle man.
“Obviously, Mike Tyson. He has the same warrior spirit which doesn’t understand yield. We yield for nobody, no one.
“I watched that man in Memphis, Tennessee fight Lennox Lewis and listened to him say in the corner ‘I cannot fight this man, he is too big, he is too powerful’ and then got up and went out for the eighth round and allowed Lennox Lewis a clean kill.
“That is a man of heart, of substance, of integrity.
“Who is the third person that I would have with me in battle? It’s actually Floyd Mayweather, it is not for his fighting ability, it is for his strategic ability, being able to see how a fight can play out and see it before it happens – then do it.
“If it is an earthly war, I want to go for Floyd Mayweather Jr. because he knows.”
