Chris Eubank quits Scared Of The Dark after bust ups with castmates and explosive rants

Chris Eubank has dramatically quit new Channel 4 reality show Scared Of The Dark.

The former boxer left the show, which sees celebrities live in darkness for a week, after a series of bust ups with his fellow castmates and explosive rants.

Before throwing in the towel, Chris annoyed the other contestants when he refused to take part in challenges and embarked on an 11-hour silent protest.

He also moaned about other celebs – including football legend Paul Gascoigne - for talking “tragically” about their lives.

Speaking to the camera during Wednesday night’s episode, the 56-year-old said: “It’s my last show in this construct.

“The real dark is where I’m going back to, where they need my assistance, whether they know it or not.”

Chris announced he was quitting the show in a rant on Wednesday night (Channel 4)

In dramatic fashion, he added: “I am an entertainer and I’m sorry, but I have other people to look after with my insight.”

Chris then left the bunker without saying goodbye to any of the remaining celebrities.

Host Danny Dyer branded him a ‘child’ and said he hoped Chris quitting the show wouldn’t prompt others to do the same.

“He was the fly in the ointment of the group wasn’t he! I wonder if he will start a domino effect and the others will want to leave?”

The remaining stars were told Chris had left, but none seemed particularly sad about the news.

Giving his opinion on why Chris had really left, Gazza said: “Personally, I think he’s scared of the dark and should leave. I’m telling you now, he’s fighting the dark, it’s got to him."

Love Island star Chloe Burrows, who argued with Chris during the show, said: “It’s a pride thing and he couldn’t admit that he couldn’t do it!”

Chris also clashed with The wanted star Max George when he stopped playing halfway through challenges after losing several rounds in a row.

He then refused to take part in another challenge that would have won Max some time in the light chamber.

Fans took to Twitter in droves to blast Chris’ behaviour on the show – but some were also concerned for his mental health.

One wrote: “Chris Eubank! There are no words. Just a very rude man! it doesn’t matter what you’ve been through, there’s no excuse to be so damn rude to people #ScaredOfTheDark.”

Another commented: “He couldn’t hack it and ended up being a child that couldn’t get his own way, throwing his toys out the pram and is a quitter, a fact that a love islander lasted longer than him is an embarrassment!”

“You’re not scared of the dark... you’re scared of people that don’t agree with your opinion,” a fourth chimed in.

A fifth said: “@ChrisEubank you should be so disappointed in your behaviour on #ScredOfTheDark – idiot, pathetic, sore loser!”

While a sixth added: “Chris Eubank is not doing himself any favours on Scared Of The Dark, like I’m seriously concerned about his mental state??? Cos why is he acting like that???”
