Chris Eubank Jr claims boos will only make him fight better against Liam Williams

Chris Eubank Junior claims being booed will only make him fight better against Liam Williams on Saturday.

Eubank is braced for a hostile reception from the crowd at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena when he clashes with Welshman Williams in their middleweight showdown.

He is an experienced road warrior and says he revels in “being the bad guy”.

“I hope the atmosphere isn’t like that, but if it is, fine,” he said. “I don’t mind being the bad guy. I’ve been the bad guy many times before.

“I’ve been to people’s backyards and fought in front of hostile crowds, where everyone wants me to lose. It makes me fight better.

“Some guys, the pressure gets to them, and they need the support system of the crowd to get behind them, it helps their performance.

“For me, if I have people booing me and wanting me to lose, that makes me fight harder, it has the opposite affect.

“If it’s hostile, then great.”

Williams has teamed up with Eubank’s old trainer Adam Booth and the former IBO super-middleweight champ says the Rhondda fighter is mistaken if he thinks that will help him.

Eubank, 32, says he only worked with Booth for a few months and that he won’t be able to tell Williams how to beat him.

“He knows he can’t beat me straight up, he knows he needs help,” he said. “He thinks ‘this guy has worked with Chris before, so he can help me’. But nothing is going to save him.

“Adam Booth definitely doesn’t know how to beat me so he can’t tell him.

“The fighter I was when I trained with Adam Booth for a short period of time - it was a couple of months really - I’m a completely different fighter now. His involvement is going to make absolutely no difference.”

Eubank is being trained by the Roy Jones Junior and says it is a revelation - even if the ring legend is costing him a fortune in coffee beans.

“It’s been an awesome experience, a real eye-opening experience, a real learning process,” he said.

“I’m learning things each and every day, which is amazing at 32 years old after being a professional for 10 years.

“He’s staying at my house, he’s a great guy to live with. The only problem is he makes coffee every hour. I’ve got a great coffee machine and he’s killed my coffee beans.”
