Chow Down Winter Village Leeds to host World Cup matches with live entertainment programme planned

A Christmas winter village serving street food delights with a packed entertainment programme and football screenings is happening in Leeds this festive season.

The Chow Down Winter Village will see eight weeks of fun kick off on Thursday, November 10. There’ll be fire pits, heaters and winter snugs to ward off the chill plus a festive bar menu including mulled wine, craft beers, mulled cider and cocktails.

Entertainment will include drag brunches, bingo lingo, comedy nights, Christmas dog social, a Chow Down Quizmass and FIFA World Cup matches being screened. The Temple Arches venue will introduce a new beer hall which will include a big screen and sound system, steins and beer selection, street food, heaters, table service and pre-match anthems.

It will show all England and Wales matches during the competition. Elsewhere, other entertainment will come from DJs Fat Tony, Norman Jay MBE, The Cuban Brothers and DJ Spoony.

Stu Butterworth, one of Chow Down’s founders, said: “After a hugely successful debut Winter Village last year, we’re back for 2022 with a revamped venue full of exciting changes. After consumer feedback and the ongoing cost of living crisis, entry will now be free for the vast majority of our eight-week run, with events such as drag brunch, our World Cup screenings and headline DJs such as Norman Jay still ticketed.

“We’re once again super excited to bring an array of incredible festive food, drinks and entertainment to the centre of Leeds this Christmas and we’re looking forward to getting festive with everyone from November onwards.”

If you’d like to go to any of the events tickets will be on sale from 9am on Tuesday, October 4. You can buy them here. To find out the latest events news in our city you can visit our Best in Leeds homepage. There you will also find a guide to great things to do in Leeds.
