Eddie Howe has several selection dilemmas to contend against West Ham United this weekend. Bruno Guimaraes’ red card in the 2-1 win over Southampton means he must serve a three-match suspension.
Newcastle United have fielded a consistent side in recent weeks, with Howe reluctant to stray from his 4-3-3 system and personnel. Joelinton has played out wide but that will likely change as he, alongside Joe Wilock and Sean Longstaff, are the only fit central midfielders available.
Taking his place on the left flank appears a straight shoot-out between Allan Saint-Maximin and new boy Anthony Gordon. Previous marquee arrivals, like Guimaraes and Sven Botman, have often had to bide their time before Howe slotted them in… will he do the same tomorrow afternoon?

Saint-Maximin has not started a game since August and there was transfer speculation regarding him in the January window. Record arrival Alexander Isak has also been restricted to substitute appearances despite impressing in recent cameos.
The Swedish international was forced off on Tuesday with a concussion injury and Howe, speaking at his pre-match press conference, could not clarify whether he will be in contention. Harrison Ashby is also fit for selection and could make his debut against his former club.
