If Twix is your favourite chocolate in the world, your mind might be about to be blown, as people are only now discovering what the brand name actually means.
The iconic treat, by parent company Mars, is a caramel shortbread chocolate bar, which comes in a gold, red and white wrapper. Inside there are two delicious biscuit treats, which are perfect for sharing.
You might have chowed down on many a Twix during your lifetime without realising the name actually has a meaning - and it has to do with the shape of the sweet treat. Despite being one of the best-selling chocolate bars of all time, many fans didn't realise it wasn't just a made-up name for the chocolate - but it stands for something longer.
Twix confirmed the meaning behind the name in a Twitter exchange. One chocolate fan took to Twitter to ask the brand whether something they had learned about the name's origin was true.
Twitter user Fooji asked: "I read that 'Twix' is short for 'twin biscuit sticks'. Can you confirm or deny this?"
Twix responded that the user was "close", but not exactly right. They clarified: "It's short for 'twin sticks'".
Social media users were floored to find out they had gone their whole lives without knowing what Twix stood for.
One person said: "You think you know everything, and then..." Someone else added: "Ashamed that at 40-years-old, this had not occurred to me."
A third commented: "I only just fund out that Twix stands for twin stix (sticks). I feel so confused about the world I thought I knew."
There's even more to learn about this popular treat, because there's also a hidden message in the Twix logo that you might not have noticed before.
In the dot above the 'I' in the Tix logo you'll see something that looks like a pause button, with two vertical lines next to each other. However, other fans have pointed out that they think the lines are a shoutout to the product itself - which is sold with two fingers in the packet.
