Cho Gue Sung 'upset' at Celtic transfer collapse as he heaps praise on South Korea teammate Oh

South Korea striker Cho Gue-sung reveals his collapsed move to Celtic left him "upset" - but refused to give up hope on getting his dream move in the future.

But he's harbouring no bitterness towards Hyeongyu Oh as he applauded his international teammate for his impact during the break. Cho was a target for Ange Postecoglou and talks were launched with Jeonbuk Hyndai Motors during the World Cup, but a deal to bring him in as a contingency plan for Giorgos Giakoumakis' departure couldn't be struck. In the end, the Hoops plumped for another South Korean and 21-year-old Oh has already made his mark with three goals in green and white.

The two teamed up during the international break and Cho says Oh was "unlucky" to see his goal against Uruguay chalked off. And the 25-year-old also opened up on his collapsed Celtic transfer, though hopes his chance to move to Europe has not come and gone.

On Oh, he said: "I have known Hyeongyu Oh would be a good player for a long time and you can see he's really starting to show it now. He did really well when he came on and was unlucky to see a goal ruled out. There is a lot of competition for a place in the national team. It's up to me to show the manager I deserve to play."

And when asked about his talks with Celtic he added: "When my move to Celtic didn't happen, honestly I was upset. But I have no regrets about not going to Europe right away. I still think I have a lot to learn as a striker.

"I am convinced I will get another opportunity someday. My ambition last year was to go to Europe, but now it has changed. I have to focus on training and work hard.

"I ask myself the question, if I don't get to go to a club in Europe will I regret it for the rest of my career? And the answer is no."
