Celtic target Cho Gue-sung's representative has admitted the South Korea international is attracting interest from Europe - but has ruled out two potential suitors.
The Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker is the top scorer in the K-League 1 and has continued that fine form into the World Cup, where he has played a key role in his nation reaching the last 16 netting twice in the group stage. He will look to add to that tally against Brazil and help his side pull off a shock victory over the tournament favourites in Qatar, but he has already caught Ange Postecoglou 's eye.
The Celtic boss and Head of Recruitment Mark Lawwell are reportedly among the 24-year-old's admirers with the January transfer window rapidly approaching, while doubts linger over Giorgios Giakoumakis long-term future in Glasgow's east end. Now a member of Gue-sung's inner circle have shut down talk of a move to Fenerbahce and Stade Rennais.
A move to Turkey or France had been touted in South Korean media, however while they confessed there is interest from clubs in Europe both destinations have been ruled out. A statement to Korean outlet Khan read: "The rumour that these two clubs are interested in Cho Gue-sung is not true. It is true that clubs in Europe are interested in Cho Gue-sung. It is certain that (clubs in) the European leagues are keeping an eye on Cho Gue-Sung at the World Cup.”
Celtic are keen to add depth up front in the winter window. Kyogo Furuhashi is Postecoglou's go-to frontman, while contract talks have stalled with back-up Giakoumakis.
