Celtic have been given the thumbs up to sign Cho Gue-Sung by former South Korea and Manchester United star Park Ji-Sung, who is now the technical director of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
The Hoops have been strongly linked with the striker who lit up Qatar 2022 for his nation, attracting him plenty of attention in the Asian nation. He became the first player from the Asian country to score two goals at a World Cup game when he notched a brace against Ghana in the group stages. Current club Jeonbuk stated when rumours of a move to Europe first appeared that business would not be done until director Park returned from a break.
He's now back in business and has spoken on Gue-Sung's future after admitting he's keen on a switch of continents. Park said: "The most important thing for Cho is to succeed in Europe and be focused on achieving good results rather than just going to Europe itself.
“The player will also now think about which team to sign for and when to leave. I will also be involved in this and help him make his decision. The timing and team are the most important issues for him."
Park had a similar career path after catching the eye at the 2002 World Cup in his homeland before winning a move to Europe with PSV Eindhoven. From there he moved to Manchester United and won four titles and a Champions League.
