Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder LIVE
Derek Chisora was denied a fairytale ending to his boxing career on Saturday night as Deontay Wilder beat him by split decision after a thrilling bout at the O2 Arena. The fight would be the 50th of both men’s careers, but one man had more riding on it than the other. Chisora had promised to hang up his gloves after the bout, but he was not able to go out on a high. He started well in the fight but Wilder matched him blow for blow.
The evening began to slip away from Chisora when he twice fell out of the ring, and he hit the canvas to take a count in round eight. He lasted the full distance, though the judges ruled in Wilder’s favour, with two points the margin of victory. Speaking after the fact, he refused to take on one last fight, saying he was looking forward to taking his kids on the school run.
North London native Viddal Riley was crowned European cruiserweight champion earlier in the evening after stunning Mateusz Masternak in the final undercard event. Catch up with the action from fight night LIVE as it happened below with Standard Sport’s dedicated blog, complete with expert insight and analysis.

Round three: Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder
23:07 , Arthur FerridgeThis is a brutal fight, and Chisora looks to be flagging.
It is classic heavyweight boxing - both men are dishing out brutal, damaging slugs but it is the man of the hour Chisora who seems to be struggling more than his opponent.
He is struggling severely and tried to talk it over with the referee, but Wilder sees that as an opportunity to attack!
The Chisora corner is less than impressed.
Round two: Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder
23:02 , Arthur FerridgeThe second round is just as frenetic as the first and Wilder seems entirely intent on raining on Chisora’s parade. He is clearly struggling already - not a chance this goes the distance!
Chisora manages to flip the script and sends Wilder into the corner, but he does not seem able to hurt the American before losing his balance and staggering to the ground.
Both fighters seem to be struggling to get into a rhythm - repeated clinches are rather stemming any momentum for either man.
Round one: Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder
22:58 , Arthur FerridgeIt is no secret that Wilder’s recent form is rather subpar, and Chisora is quick out of the gates as he looks for a statement win in what he has claimed will be his final career fight.
He starts fast and is raining body blows down on the American, who stands a head taller than him but is struggling to keep pace.
Wilder pins Chisora on the ropes late in the round and both men look set to tumble out of the ring. Chisora’s coach storms out of his corner to call for a time-out and they get a telling off from the referee.
A fascinating start...

A strong performance from Viddal Riley
22:33 , Arthur Ferridge

Up next?
22:27 , Arthur FerridgeNow, time for the main event! Derek Chisora vs Deontay Wilder is coming up next.
Riley reviews the fight
22:25 , Arthur Ferridge“It feels good man, European champion, it sounds good. Talk to us nice. This says I’m world-class. The only people who beat Masternak are world-class.
“You know how it goes. British, sometimes Commonwealth, then European and you go to the next level. We’ll sit down with the team, I feel great and I’m ready for the next challenge.”
DECISION: Riley vs Masternak
22:22 , Arthur FerridgeNo surprises at all - the judges rule in favour of Riley by unanimous decision! He is crowned European cruiserweight champion.
Masternak loses his belt.
The judges score it: 118-110, 118-110, 119-109.

Round twelve: Riley vs Masternak
22:19 , Arthur FerridgeRiley turns the gas back up to eleven as he looks to end the fight with a statement - and it is working.
Masternak knows he needs a stoppage to keep his belt and throws some huge hooks, one of which leaves Riley staggering.
But it is ultimately a confident finish from the Briton, who keeps his feet to the finish and will surely be named champion in a few moments’ time. What a performance from Riley, who lands one last stinging blow to Masternak’s forehead as the bell rings to end the fight.
Round twelve: Riley vs Masternak
22:16 , Arthur FerridgeOne more round. Here we go...
Round eleven: Riley vs Masternak
22:15 , Arthur FerridgeThere can be little debate that Riley has won every round so far, here, and so it is no surprise that he seems happy to sit back and see this out.
He has been in full control throughout and just needs to get through 150 more seconds of boxing before he can call himself a European cruiserweight champion.
Masternak looks tired and devoid of ideas.
He is going to have to go for it in the final round. This could be an explosive finish.
Round ten: Riley vs Masternak
22:11 , Arthur FerridgeWe are into the very late stages here, and both men are looking slightly worse for wear - one more than the other!
Riley is not hurting, in fairness, simply tiring, but he is picking his moments so well. Whenever Masternak shows the slightest weakness he dives in with accurate, damaging punches.
This fight looks set to go the distance.
Round nine: Riley vs Masternak
22:07 , Arthur FerridgeA round of rest, in a sense, for both fighters.
Riley lets off the gas somewhat, while Masternak still has little to offer in terms of attack.
While he slowed a tad, Riley still had the better of the blows, and in the last 15 seconds catches Masternak in the corner, delivering a tasty combination.
Round eight: Riley vs Masternak
22:03 , Arthur FerridgeMasternak is in serious danger of going down, here. He simply cannot contend with Riley, who is chipping away at him, slowly but surely.
Through the last minute of the eigth, he just can’t get himself away from the ropes. How much longer can he cope with this?
One showstopper from Riley could be enough to get a stoppage here, not to mention a belt.
Round seven: Riley vs Masternak
21:59 , Arthur FerridgeWe are past the halfway stage now and Riley is starting to twist the knife. Early in this seventh round he pins Masternak back onto the ropes, and while the Pole escapes, the Briton is still keeping the pressure on and scoring far more than he is conceding.
Masternak looks increasingly haggard, and an uppercut to the face leaves him staggering into the corner as the bell rings to send the fighters back to their corners.
Round six: Riley vs Masternak
21:54 , Arthur FerridgeDAZN flash up a list of stats on stream, which plainly show Riley has Masternak beat in every metric. He’s passing the eye test, too.
The Pole is flushed, ruddy and wounded. Riley, meanwhile, looks just as comfortable and energised now as he did in the first round.
He is in total control, but has to stay wary of Masternak’s ability to leave it late.
Round five: Riley vs Masternak
21:51 , Arthur FerridgeIt is more of the same from Riley here, just fantastic.
Masternak is doing what he can to rescue his prospects, but as things stand, he just can’t get near Riley!
He takes two heavy blows to the body in the dying seconds, and one more to the head as the bell rings. This is quickly falling away from him.
Round four: Riley vs Masternak
21:46 , Arthur FerridgeRiley is really starting to stamp his authority on this fight! Masternak has the look of a man aware of the scorecard as he starts to throw some desperate jabs.
Riley, meanwhile, is as confident as ever and catches the veteran with some more painful punches. Fantastic performance so far.
Round three: Riley vs Masternak
21:42 , Arthur FerridgeConsidering the disparity between these fighters’ experience and pedigree, it is really remarkable how comfortable Riley looks - you would never know he was the challenger rather than the champion!
This third round is a continuation of the first two, with Riley landing a series of impressive blows as Masternak struggles to muster a response.
With 30 seconds left in the round he twice sends the Pole stumbling with huge blows to the jaw, and leaves him leaning on the ropes as the bell tolls.
Round two: Riley vs Masternak
21:39 , Arthur FerridgeRiley is starting to stamp his authority on this fight! He is so accurate, and is timing his blows to perfection as he begins to unsettle the veteran Masternak.
A superb start from the Briton, whose shorts bear the Tottenham Hotspur crest. He has surely taken both of the opening rounds here.
Round one: Riley vs Masternak
21:34 , Arthur FerridgeA lively if tentative start to this bout as both men look to size each other up.
Riley has youth and vitality on his side, and looks understandably jaunty as he attempts to goad Masternak to drop his hands.
There are no major flashpoints in the opening exchanges, but has Riley edged the first round? I think he might have...
Round one: Riley vs Masternak
21:31 , Arthur FerridgeThe penultimate fight of the evening is underway!
Riley vs Masternak
21:27 , Arthur FerridgeMasternak becomes the second fighter of the night to walk out to Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’.
Riley is a full decade younger than Masternak, who has a remarkable 55 wins in his career, with 6 losses and 33 knockouts.
For Riley, this is an opportunity to make prove he is more than just a YouTuber and can hang with Europe’s best.
Nearly time...
21:21 , Arthur FerridgeOur fighters are making their way to the ring!
Up next...
21:12 , Arthur FerridgeAnother title on the line next up as Viddal Riley faces Mateusz Masternak for the European cruiserweight title!
Denzel Bentley's win in pictures
21:11 , Arthur Ferridge

Man of the hour: Denzel Bentley
21:07 , Arthur FerridgeDenzel Bentley’s career has been far from linear or orthodox, but this is arguably his greatest night as he takes the WBO interim middleweight title
He tells DAZN: “I feel amazing, man. We need to drop the interim, I’m the world champion. I want to give glory to God because I’ve had a hard year, many thanks to my team. I made it happen, I’m mad emotional, I’m trying to keep it together.
“He’s a tough guy. I’ll be honest, he’s a tough guy, just kept coming. I just knew I had to keep him on the end of my jab. He was hurting me, he’s a big puncher. I knew I was hurting him too, but he had a good game face. I knew I could get him, it was just a matter of when.”

Round seven: Bentley vs Saavedra
21:02 , Arthur FerridgeBENTLEY RAINS FURY ON SAAVEDRA AND THE FIGHT IS WAVED OFF!
To give a picture of how close a fight this was ahead of round seve, DAZN’s pundits were totally at odds as to who is in the lead. Carl Frampton has it as a dead heat, while the commentators cannot make up their minds one way or the other.
But Bentley is having none of that and smells blood in the water. He catches Saavedra with his hands down once and goes in for the kill, leathering him with a brutal, unrelenting series of jabs. Simply lethal. Superb boxing!
Round six: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:59 , Arthur FerridgeBentley looks to be slipping as we approach the halfway stage of this fight. He is avoiding contact with Saavedra and dancing around the ring as he looks to separate from the Venezuelan, who is landing some great combinations.
The Briton, though, finishes the round on top, leaving Saavedra dazed with a couple bruising blows.
This is very tricky to call as it stands.
Round five: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:54 , Arthur FerridgeBentley has 17 knockouts in his 21 career wins, and it might not be unreasonable to say we’re heading towards that eventuality.
Saavedra was left dazed come the end of the fourth and was marginally improved in the five, but still he seems to be struggling with Bentley’s power.
It is perhaps a question of quality and quantity, though. Bentley is tanking a lot of blows, but seems to be doing more damage with his own, even if they are less regular. This is a fascinating fight.
Round four: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:51 , Arthur FerridgeSaavedra is stamping his authority on this fight now. His movement is causing Bentley a world of problems, keeping the Briton with his back to the ropes, though he is catching some retaliatory blows.
Bentley lands a crunching hook to the jaw to end the round - that is a statement finish! Can he build on it?
Round three: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:46 , Arthur FerridgeA very even third round starts with Saavedra on the front foot but Bentley grows back into it quickly and takes the advantage late on. A bruising combo has his opposite man needing time to recover, and he collapses onto the ropes after missing a big swing.
If it was one round apiece before this round, Bentley must have taken the advantage there.
Round two: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:42 , Arthur FerridgeA rather tentative second round here, as our fighters spent the first minute or so clinched.
Saavedra eventually takes the offensive, though, leaving Bentley staggering, and he keeps him pinned on the ropes as he looks to solidify his narrow advantage.
And he steps on the gas as we move into the last 45 seconds of the round. The Venezuelan looks so confident, but does firm a jab to the nose in the dying seconds.
All to fight for here...
Round one: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:38 , Arthur FerridgeA lively start but Bentley of Battersea seems to be on the back foot in the early exchanges. Saavedra catches him in the corner early in the round, and has him back on the ropes soon after.
Not a massive amount to separate the pair in this first round, but the Venezuelan seems to have taken the edge.
Round one: Bentley vs Saavedra
20:35 , Arthur FerridgeThis 12-round bout is underway! The WBO interim middleweight title is on the line here.
Bentley vs Saavedra
20:32 , Arthur FerridgeA lot on the line for both fighters now, as far as reputation goes. Who will take the bragging rights here?
Bentley vs Saavedra
20:30 , Arthur FerridgeOur fighters are en route to the ring!
Harris vs Ignatius in pictures
20:26 , Arthur Ferridge

What next?
20:23 , Arthur FerridgeTwo quality fights thus far!
Our third bout of the evening will pit Denzel Bentley against Endry Saavedra, before Viddal Riley faces Mateusz Masternak for the European cruiserweight title.
Matty Harris reviews the fight
20:18 , Arthur Ferridge“I ain't even got the words to describe it. We’ve been away putting in work for a while. I had opportunities years ago and messed up, but we stayed consistent. The team around me are so solid. We want to be going in for tests and turning the levels up all the time.”

Harris v Ignatius
20:13 , Arthur FerridgeWhat a moment for Matty Harris! Ignatius lunges in but is caught out as Harris feints past him and delivers a brutal jab to the jaw, immediately dropping his opponent.
There is some concern for the beaten party, who takes his time getting up and requires treatment.
Round two: Harris v Ignatius
20:11 , Arthur FerridgeDOWN GOES IGNATIUS! That does it! The referee stops it!
Round one: Harris v Ignatius
20:10 , Arthur FerridgeIt is a very fast start in this fight! The referee pulls the fighters apart just a few seconds in!
Ignatius is getting low and reaching at some stinging body shots. Harris, though, picks his moments to duck, weave, and land some retaliatory blows to the jaw.
He seems to take the advantage with about 30 seconds left, delivering a bruising blow to the jaw which leaves Ignatius staggering onto the ropes.
Round one: Harris v Ignatius
20:06 , Arthur FerridgeThis heavyweight bout is underway! Eight rounds to come.
Harris v Ignatius
20:02 , Arthur FerridgeMatty Harris walks out ‘Proud Mary’. What a tune. Man after my own heart.
Harris v Ignatius
19:59 , Arthur FerridgeHarris (9-1) stands 6’8 and 249lbs but has his work cut out for him here against the 237lb Ignatius (9-1-1)
Next up...
19:58 , Arthur FerridgeMatty Harris v Franklin Ignatius is our second fight of the evening!
Anderson vs Dujon
19:54 , Arthur FerridgeAmir ‘Cashman’ Anderson is officially crowned the winner! Great performance from the American.

Round eight: Anderson vs Dujon
19:51 , Arthur FerridgeTHE REFEREE STOPS IT!
Anderson was certainly leading into the final round and has really stamped his authority on this fight in the dying seconds. One last fleet-footed flurry sees the referee step in and call off the contest with barely 20 seconds remaining.
Chisora arrives
19:48 , Arthur FerridgeOur headline home favourite Derek Chisora has arrived at the O2!
He took the underground to get here. Man of the people.
Round seven: Anderson vs Dujon
19:47 , Arthur FerridgeThe penultimate round sees Dujon doing what he can to win back some favour from the judges, but Anderson is more than equal to his offensive.
He quickly puts down the attempted rebellion and gets the Briton back on the ropes. He will know full well that he has a considerable points advantage in his back pocket - he just needs to see this out now.
Round six: Anderson vs Dujon
19:43 , Arthur FerridgeMore of the same in round six of eight - Anderson is dictating the pace of play and must surely have left Dujon in a world of pain as he heads back to his corner.
The Briton is doing well to keep his feet here, and even responds with a few body shots of his own, but Anderson closes out the round with a brutal flurry.
Round five: Anderson vs Dujon
19:39 , Arthur FerridgeDujon is really hurting now. His left eyebrow is swelling noticeably and Anderson is twisting the knife.
It is confident, composed stuff from the American, who plainly knows he is in the driver’s seat, but is content to take his time and pick his moments.
Round four: Anderson vs Dujon
19:35 , Arthur FerridgeThis fight is getting a bit cagey, with Dujon very much on the defensive and Anderson continuing to land effective jabs.
Anderson lands a low blow with 65 seconds of the round remaining, and the referee gives him his final warning.
But, once Dujon has recovered, the American comes quick out of his corner and gets to showboating as he begins to plant haymaker after bruising haymaker.
The bell comes at the perfect time to give Dujon some respite, but this fight is quickly getting away from him.
Round three: Anderson vs Dujon
19:30 , Arthur FerridgeThe longer this fight wears on, the more comfortable Anderson looks. This third round has Dujon pinned in the corner, coming under a flurry of body shots. The Briton looks like he’s hurting - he has hardly any response!
Anderson is looking for a showstopper as the round comes to an end. He doesn’t quite find it, but you wonder if he might put this fight to bed soon.
Round two: Anderson vs Dujon
19:26 , Arthur FerridgeAnderson took the first round to get the lay of the land and is very quick out of the gates as he takes the offensive in the second.
A flurry of blows early in the round has Dujon wavering, and he picks his moments well to land another some more tidy combinations.
Nothing spectacular just yet, but this is very confident stuff from Anderson.
Round one: Anderson vs Dujon
19:22 , Arthur FerridgeAnderson was making all the noise in the build-up to this fight, but it is Dujon who takes the more aggressive stance in the first round. The first blows are all his as the American is patient in sizing up his opposite man.
He quickly grows into it, though, and lands some confident body shots. He’s doing a great job of controlling the territory in the ring, too, keeping Dujon with his back to the ropes for much of the round.
Round one: Anderson vs Dujon
19:19 , Arthur FerridgeThis eight-round middleweight fight is underway!
Anderson vs Dujon
19:16 , Arthur FerridgeAnd he’s made it to the ring. Let’s get cracking!
Anderson vs Dujon
19:16 , Arthur FerridgeAn early contender for longest walkout of the night. Anderson is still only halfway down the catwalk.
Anderson vs Dujon
19:14 , Arthur FerridgeAmir ‘Cashman’ Anderson, meanwhile, has brought a rapper out to perform his walkout tune live. Wish I could tell you who it is, but I’ve not got a scooby.
Anderson vs Dujon
19:13 , Arthur FerridgeJordan Dujon, a masters student, has one win in his last four fights.
Anderson vs Dujon
19:12 , Arthur FerridgeThis is another USA vs UK bout, with Anderson hailing from stateside and Dujon, ten years his opponent’s senior, a native of Barnet. Exotic!
This first fight will be underway momentarily.
Wardley issues Chisora vs Wilder prediction
19:10 , Arthur FerridgeFabio Wardley is on punditry duties for DAZN this evening, and he has issued a prediction ahead of the fight.
He hopes both Chisora and Wilder will hang up their gloves after this bout, regardless of the result.
Let’s see how accurate that is.
Preliminary rounds
19:08 , Arthur FerridgeThe preliminary bouts are just about done and dusted, which means the main undercard will soon be underway!
Amir Anderson vs Jordan Dujon will be our first event of the evening.
Wilder explains glove dispute
18:59 , Arthur Ferridge“It was my issue. I broke my hand so many times and the gloves that were provided... as you can see all the surgeries I had, I just want to be comfortable in the ring.
“And we had an issue with the gloves. They are too tight on my hand and we going to see what happens and we going to straighten it out.
“I don't play mind games. When I say things, it's real. I just want to be right, I want to be comfortable and where there is no excuses and everything is left in the ring.”
Chisora threatens to retire after this fight - but will he?
18:50 , Arthur Ferridge“Whatever happens, this will be the last one. Yes, I’ll just walk away.
“You don’t understand, it’s not even up to me, it’s up to my wife. This is it.
“She said: ‘if you have one more fight after this, I’ll leave you.’ So I’m like: ‘okay fine.’ She said: ‘One fight and you’re out.’
“You can’t do that ‘one more, one more’ thing. This is a problem. This is where you get caught out and then problems happen.
“So, no. Even the British Boxing Board of Control have said to me: ‘one more and we’re actually barring you from boxing.’ So that’s it.
“It’s the last dance. There’s no dance after. This is it. When I leave the ring, that’s it. Done.”

Chisora vs Wilder prediction
18:14 , Arthur FerridgeThis fight will pit two veterans against each other, but one looks markedly more youthful than the other coming into this bout.
Of course, one can only read so far into recent form, but the numbers do not tell an encouraging story for Wilder.
Chisora’s three consecutive wins by unanimous decision in recent bouts quite dramatically upstage Wilder’s own ticker.
The talents which established him as one of the world’s top heavyweights no longer seem present, with his instinctive finishes of old markedly absent from recent fights.
Chisora, then, will hope to end his own career on a high.
Chisora to win by knockout.
