NEW DELHI: Chirag Khandal is all set to be one of India’s youngest riders at the Hangzhou Asian Games after the Supreme Court on Friday directed the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) to include his name in the long list of athletes for the 15-day-long continental showpiece in China.
With Chirag’s inclusion, India has now confirmed entries of seven riders and 12 horses for the Asiad, scheduled from September 23 to October 8. Apart from Chirag, the other riders are Ashish Limai, Apurva Dabhade, Vikas Kumar, Raju Singh, Ashish Malik and Rakesh Kumar. The government will soon release a financial assistance of Rs eight crore to the EFI for training and preparation of these riders in Europe and elsewhere for the Asiad. The sanction will come by Tuesday next week.
