Preparations are being made to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year - but what will the Year of the Rabbit have in store for you?
The festival, which starts on Sunday, January 22, marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. According to the Chinese horoscope, the Year of the Rabbit should be a lucky year for everyone.
However, some of the 12 zodiac animal signs could experience negativity, according to astrologers. The Rabbit, also known as the Water Rabbit, is a sign of longevity, peace and prosperity. Here’s what you can expect in the next 12 months depending on your animal sign.

Rabbit (born in 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999)
Those who are entering the Year of the Rabbit as this zodiac animal must be prepared for any "fluctuations in luck", according to astrologers from chinesenewyear.net. It adds that this means the highs will be very high but the lows could also be very low as well. In regards to careers, Rabbits should see a "dramatic boost" with the help of one or more mentors, reports the Mirror.
Astrologers say 2023 should be a year of excitement and that if the Rabbit can keep an "upbeat attitude" then their positivity will attract the decisive powers that could determine its fame and fortune for the next 12 years.
Ox (born in 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997)
The Ox are "likely to experience many pleasant surprises in work and life", according to astrologers. However, they are warned to not stop their hard work as the luck will not be "bestowed" on them, but earned after their efforts in previous years.
The Ox may experience "little problems" but they will "turn into opportunities". Overall, the Ox's luck will grow.
Tiger (born in 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2022)
The Tiger will also experience an "uptick of good fortune" in 2023, according to astrologers. They say it won't be anything generous but will provide a foundation to gather momentum across different aspects of life.
In terms of work, sticking to their guns will pay off. However, when it comes to love, the Tiger must learn to "control their temper and communicate" to avoid a tricky year.
Furthermore, Tigers need to be cautious about their health because it "won't be as robust as previous years". Overall, this year will see progress in the right direction but not very rapid.
Dragon (born in 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000)
Astrologers say Dragons are not in for an easy 2023 as "more inauspicious influences" will keep them "on their toes for much of the year". In regards to career, they will mostly excel and not run into any major problems.
And their income will remain steady if not increase. However, the Dragon's love life will be "rather turbulent". Astrologers say Dragons are "more prone to feeling lonely" even when in a happy relationship. Single Dragons may not enter a relationship this year.
Snake (born in 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001)
2023 will be a positive year for the Snakes in all areas of life ever with minor setbacks, astrologers predict. In work life, Snakes may experience a few quarrels but everything will be resolved on its own timeline.
As Snakes are creative, this may be a good year to feed into inspiration and debut that masterpiece. The Snakes will experience "minor frictions" in their love lives but similar to their work life things will not be resolved instantly. Astrologers say Snakes this year should "stay still" and remain patient.

A year of "turbulence" is to be expected for Horses this year, according to astrologers. In regards to career and wealth, those who the Horse's hard work will award recognition where its due while distractions will crop up.

Goats are in for a peaceful 2023 as the fortunate and less fortunate aspects to come up will counteract each other, according to astrologers. Goats are set to be favoured in their careers by "higher-ups and important partners and clients", meaning it's a good year to push themselves beyond their limits.
Their love life will be stable and single Goats will meet plenty of people this year.
Monkey (born in 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004)
2023 is set to be "wonderful and glowing" for Monkeys, but due to a "powerful negative celestial influence", they will have to stay on their toes for most of the year. Astrologers say this negative influence will largely impact the Monkeys' work life.
They say it may be easy to want to quit if things get difficult or boring, but to persevere. What will be more positive is love as they will be popular with who they hope to attract and married Monkeys will fall in love over again with their partners.
Rooster (born in 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005)
Roosters will experience a "polarising" 2023 where their love life will make them happy but they will be "very dissatisfied with work development". Astrologers say their work will be stagnant at best and even give a stark warning that they could lose their job this year.
They warn: "It won’t necessarily happen, but it won’t hurt you to be prepared, either." Roosters never take their work worries home and their love life will be great in 2023.
Dog (born in 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006)
Astrologers predict a "breezy year" for Dogs with "relatively stable fortune". The positive and negative aspects that may come will counterbalance each other.
At work, the Dog will make "more mistakes than usual", but everything is "entirely salvageable" - just make sure it doesn't snowball. The advice for Dogs is to not make a big deal out of anything.
Pig (born in 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007)
Pigs will have an "easy breezy" year with the potential to become a "fantastic year", according to astrologers. The start of 2023 will start off great in terms of their work life, with being trusted more and given more projects.
Love is equally favourable, and the only thing Pigs could run into is health issues but only if they are not taking care of themselves.

Astrologers predict a polarising year for the Rat which will include "no end of troubles, minor illnesses and even temporary disasters". On the other side of that, the issues that do crop up are not impossible to handle. Making rash decisions is a big no-no for 2023.
In terms of love, fortune and work, there won't be much luck and at times "rather thorny". However, astrologers say: "This may sound ephemeral, but the Rat’s spirit will undergo such a complete transformation in 2023 that they’ll hardly recognize themselves by year’s end!"
