The FBI arrested Chinese foreign-agent suspect Wanying Zhang at LAX as she attempted to depart for China, following allegations in a federal complaint that she surveilled the Taiwanese president's son.

The allegations concern a trip to Seattle in 2025. Investigators contend that WeChat conversations obtained from Zhang's iCloud account document discussions of tasks that eventually led to surveillance of a relative of a Taiwanese government official.
