A video from People's Daily, China, China state-affiliated media, has gone viral on social media. In the 30 second video we can see a couple walking inside a big plastic sheet. The video has got close to 70k views so far.
In the video, we can see the couple holding a plastic sheet suspended from an umbrella-like structure, maybe. The sheet is covering them securely. While shopping, the lady is slightly lifting up the sheet, quickly taking the groceries and pulling down the sheet again.
The plastic sheet is protecting the couple against contracting coronavirus and is also not obstructing their visibility. The transparent sheets are making it easy for the couple to shop. In addition to this, ample space inside the sheet is giving them enough space to carry their bags and conveniently roam carrying it.
People have liked the idea. "A whole nother level...they should have had some sort of sleeve/arm attachment so that they don't even have to lift it up to conduct transactions," writes one Twitter user.

China is seeing one of the worst surges of COVID cases driven by the BF.7 variant of the COVID causing coronavirus. As per reports, several cities are reporting 1 million COVID cases on a daily basis.
China's Zhejiang, a big industrial province near Shanghai, is battling around a million new daily COVID-19 infections, a number expected to double in the days ahead, the Reuters reported quoting the provincial government.
With a population of 65.4 million, Zhejiang, said that among the 13,583 infections being treated in the province's hospitals, one patient had severe symptoms caused by COVID, while 242 infections of severe and critical conditions were caused by underlying diseases, the report added.
The BF.7 variant was found in 91 countries, including India, before the COVID spike happened in China. However, it did not lead to any significant rise in cases back then. India had seen few cases of BF.7 variant induced COVID infection in July.
After the COVID surge in China came to fore, four cases of BF.7 variant have been found in India. The union government has urged states to increase surveillance and COVID testing. Health experts have asked people to wear masks and follow anti COVID rules.
