China crash fallout: DGCA orders ‘enhanced surveillance’ on B737s with Indian carriers; sends teams to ‘monitor airworthiness’

NEW DELHI: The Indian aviation regulator has ordered "enhanced surveillance" of the close to 100 Boeing 737s in the fleets of Indian carriers after a China Eastern B737-800 with 132 people on board crashed in China's Guangxi on Monday afternoon.

In India, SpiceJet use B737s, including its Max variant. Other airlines including Air India Express and Vistara have the earlier gen B737s (not the Max) in their fleets.
