Chilling moment creepy doll 'moves' in one of UK's most haunted hotels

Creepy footage shows the moment a doll appears to move of its own accord in one of Britain's most haunted hotels.

CCTV captured the spine-tingling movement of a doll, dubbed the 'UK's very own Annabelle', as it's kept in a locked box in a room at Chester's Ye Olde King's Head.

The 17th-century inn is rife with stories and sightings of ghosts and has even featured on Most Haunted with Yvette Fielding.

Paranormal enthusiasts travel from worldwide to visit the pub, which also houses a collection of allegedly cursed and haunted items donated over the years,

The Grace doll is kept chained into the box, according to resident paranormal investigator Danny Moss, to avoid curious prying hands and eyes.

Danny explained that some visitors had previously felt compelled to open the box, as though something were willing them to do it.

The toy said to be so haunted that only seasoned paranormal investigators can enter the room in which it resides.

It’s now under 24/7 surveillance, and eerie video footage taken last month has been shared with the world.

"I’ve been investigating the item for the last five years," Mr Moss told CheshireLive.

"I’ve seen it produce some of the best evidence in the paranormal field but to now capture it moving on camera is a special moment.

"There will always be scepticism when it comes to the paranormal and, rightly so, but when you capture something like this, people have to come to terms with the possibility that there really are things out there that we cannot understand.

"The way the item moves defies gravity and that’s what makes this footage so compelling.

"It’s important to note that the room is locked and the public do not have access upstairs during the day.

"Since the item moved, it has remained in this position ever since. My Haunted Hotel truly is the number one location in the UK for paranormal enthusiasts."

Danny said the doll was moved to room eight at the hotel, also known as My Haunted Hotel, in January this year from its previous home at nearby Tatton Old Hall, Cheshire.

The doll made national headlines in 2019 when it was said to have told Danny it wanted to 'burn his eyes'.

Ye Olde Kings Head owner Harry Achilleos added: "When the Grace Doll was first brought into the building it came with many stories as well as video evidence from over the last few years but I had to see it for myself. I’ve now seen what this thing can do and I’m astonished!

"Having the Grace Doll in the building permanently is both exciting and daunting at the same time."

As many as 13 ghosts have been seen at the Olde King's Head (My Haunted Hotel)

Danny added that the Grace Doll was known as the UK’s most haunted item and was moved into room eight at My Haunted Hotel in January this year.

Danny has been studying it for the past five years and hotel manager Brett Jones recalled one particularly terrifying moment experienced when they were at close quarters with the creepy toy.

Brett told CheshireLive: “The most famous of those captures was when Danny approached it with a cross. And it comes through one of the devices saying 'burn', and he asks 'what do you want to burn?'

"And, right on cue, it comes back saying 'your eyes'."

Other incidents said to have occurred at the hotel include a rocking chair moving on its own and another doll which also seen to move in another room last year.

The hotel hosts regular ghost tours through its rooms, where noises are regularly heard and 13 different apparitions have been sighted through the years.
