This weekend, Chileans will again vote on whether or not to replace the country's constitution. The current one dates back to 1980 and the Pinochet dictatorship. The December 17 referendum is the second attempt to change the text. But for campaigners hoping for a more liberal document, with equal rights for women and Indigenous peoples, this new draft constitution is a big disappointment. Also this week, Argentina announced it would devaluate its peso by over 50 percent. The move is part of the new economic shock therapy put in place just two days after Javier Millei was sworn in as the country's new president.
Meanwhile in the United States, the president of Harvard has kept her job, just days after the head of the University of Pennsylvania was forced to resign. Both women are under fire since they gave testimony to the US Congress about anti-Semitism on campus.
