Children among 15 dead after barrage of Russian missile attacks on Ukraine

• At least 15 civilians, including three children, have been killed and over 40 injured after Russian missiles and drones struck Kyiv and 12 other Ukrainian regions overnight.
• The widespread attack coincided with Vladimir Putin 's 74th birthday and occurred despite warnings from President Volodymyr Zelensky that an assault was imminent.
• Ukraine is struggling to defend against Russia 's ballistic missiles and high-speed jet drones due to a severe shortage of ammunition for its US-made Patriot air defence systems.
• The barrage caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of an apartment block in Pryluky, while Russia claimed to have targeted Ukrainian military and industrial infrastructure.
• Ukraine retaliated by targeting Russian infrastructure, launching long-range strikes against oil facilities and a reported oil tanker in the Black Sea .
