Child rushed to Glasgow hospital after being hit by van outside school

A child has been rushed to hospital after being knocked down by a van in Glasgow.

The collision took place on Crookston Road outside Rosshall Academy around 3:10pm this afternoon.

Police have confirmed that the child, who's age hasn't yet been established, has been taken to Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children for treatment.

The road was temporarily blocked to traffic while police and ambulance crews attended the scene.

Glasgow City Council's traffic management department - TRAFFCOM - issued an alert around 3:30pm advising drivers in the area users to find an alternative route. The road then reopened to traffic around 4pm.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were made aware of a collision involving a van and a child pedestrian on Crookston Road in Glasgow around 3.10pm on Wednesday, 4 May.

“The child has been taken to Royal Hospital for Children.”
