An infant child has been killed after being struck by a jeep in Co Roscommon.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the road accident near Ballinagare in Co Roscommon shortly after 9am on Friday.
They discovered an infant boy had been hit by a jeep and efforts were made to treat him at the distressing scene.

The infant received treatment at the scene but was later pronounced deceased. His body was then taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem will take place. No other injuries were reported.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out a technical examination of the scene while a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family at this tragic time.
In a statement, gardaí say they are "appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them."
