A number of sex crimes at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital between 2019 and 2022 took place within the A&E department with police also called out to investigate incidents in other wards.
Figures obtained through Freedom of Information show the incidents on hospital grounds were highest in 2021 with five detected by police - including one rape, two sexual assaults, and one case of coercing a person into being present/ looking sexual activity.

Three of the incidents were reported on wards at the hospital, while many took place in the hospital's A&E department. Four incidents took place in other parts of the hospital grounds.
A spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "The safety and wellbeing of our patients and staff is paramount to us, and it is always distressing when anybody becomes the victim of any incidence of crime or abuse on our premises.
"We have a range of policies in place to minimise violence and aggression across our sites, and we take every step to support anyone who may be affected.
"When an allegation is made we will give every assistance we can to the police as they carry out their investigations."
