Witnesses have told how a father collapsed at the scene where his eight-year-old boy died after being hit by a car on a north London shopping parade.
Police were called to reports of collision involving a pedestrian and a car on April 28. at around 6.43pm in Green Lanes, Winchmore Hill.
The child was taken to hospital where he later died.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made at this stage.
A manager at the Anokhi Indian restaurant said his staff rushed out to help the boy.
He told the Standard: “Our waitress came off the bus and saw it happen and then saw the little boy.
“I couldn’t face going out but my team did. I only saw the dad on the floor.
“He had collapsed in shock. That’s what I saw, the medics were trying to wake him up.”
He added: “My staff were all so traumatised when they came back. They all had tears in their eyes, it was awful. We heard that he was their only child.”
The collision came the night before Enfield locals organised a ULEZ protest in the area.
