The Kansas City Chiefs are signing a player to their practice squad who spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers.
As first reported by Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, the Chiefs intend to sign LB Cole Christiansen to their practice squad. An undrafted free agent out of Army in 2020, Christiansen was a three-year starter and two-time team captain for the Black Knights. When he declared for the 2020 NFL draft, Christiansen received a waiver that allowed him to delay his active duty commitment until after his playing career is over.
The 6-2 and 225-pound linebacker signed with the Chargers and spent the past two seasons on the practice squad in Los Angeles, with elevations to the 53-man roster a few times over his career. He’s appeared in seven NFL games recording three tackles and playing only special teams.

Christiansen has the reputation of being a solid special teamer, with roles on the kickoff return and coverage team in Los Angeles. He was a standout during the 2022 NFL preseason, recording nine tackles and a sack for in the Chargers’ preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints.
With all of the reported practice squad signings, this move should put the Chiefs at a full 16-man practice squad. Brett Veach did emphasize that they could make some changes there over the coming days as the team hosts players on tryouts and visits.
