The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting one of the best remaining free agent edge rushers on the market for a visit.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks DE Carlos Dunlap will take a visit with the Chiefs on Wednesday night. The team has clear needs at the position and after hosting several players on tryouts over the past day at training camp, they’re bringing in one of the big guns.
Back in May, we took a look at some of the best remaining free agents at the edge rusher position. Dunlap is one of the few from that list to remain unsigned. Here’s what we had to say about Dunlap back then:
“After spending a decade in Cincinnati, Dunlap was traded to the Seahawks midseason last year. The 32-year-old spent seven games with the Bengals and eight games in Seattle recording 35 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 35 total pressures last season. Dunlap’s days as a top-tier pass-rusher might be behind him, but at this stage of the game, he’d be a solid addition as a rotational piece for Kansas City.”

Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed analyst Doug Kyed also thought that Dunlap would be a good fit with the Chiefs. He cited his 15.3 percent pass-rush win rate between Seattle and Cincinnati last season.
If Kansas City wants to land Dunlap, they’ll need to make a strong case and not allow him to leave without a contract.
