The Kansas City Chiefs have dominated the AFC West throughout the Patrick Mahomes era. The rivalry with the Las Vegas Raiders has become one-sided in recent years and a lot of that can be attributed to the explosive offensive performances from Travis Kelce. In fact, Kelce has never lost in the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium since the arena was first opened in 2020.
The Chiefs’ superstar duo were in Hawaii over the weekend as part of Mahomes’ charity golf tournament in support of his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. Kelce and Mahomes will faceoff with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on Thursday, June 29th, for another edition of TNT’s ‘The Match.’ The All-Pro tight end shared his thoughts on the tournament, dominance in Las Vegas while speaking with NFL Network’s Steve Wyche on Twitter.
“This is the tune-up, you know, we’re still going to try and come out here and win this thing,” said Kelce. “But we know when the lights are on, we’ve got to show out.”
Kelce elaborated his game plan with Mahomes before Wednesday’s battle with the splash brothers at the Wynn, Las Vegas.
“The message right now is, you know, I mean, we’ve never lost in Vegas. You know, both on the golf course we won as a team. We beat everybody at Justin Timberlake’s golf tournament and then obviously the Raiders,” said Kelce, “I haven’t lost to the Raiders yet. Well, I don’t even want to say yet. We just never lost in Vegas. So, that’s the bottom line.”
The Chiefs will see the Raiders for their usual two AFC West rivalry matchups during the regular season. Kelce’s comments may or may not be used for bulletin board material, but history has shown he isn’t worried.
