The Kansas City Chiefs traded earlier in the week to reacquire wide receiver Mecole Hardman to fortify their group. The familiarity with the system and offense are all selling points to justify the deal, but it runs deeper than football for Hardman’s teammates.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is one of the many members of the team happy to see Hardman back in the building. The All-Pro happily spoke to reporters on Friday about Hardman’s presence affecting the team positively and that he’s looking forward to him returning to the field this Sunday.
“I gave him a big hug. Good to have the guy back, man. It’s crazy. When you get a guy like me cold, he’s got a big personality. You know, Friends with everybody on the team, a brother to everybody on the team, both offense and defense, when you get a guy like that back in the building. It just lights everybody up.” said Kelce, “It gives everybody that good mojo, similar to when you know a guy like Blake Bell came back. And, you know, it’s just you’d like to see the good guys come back. And sure enough, you’ll see him out there flying around having a blast on Sunday.”
Hardman’s last game on the field as a member of the Chiefs was last post-season’s AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He left early with a groin injury and dealt with other health complications, so he’s ready to be greeted by the Kansas City crowd at Arrowhead Stadium if he’s officially ruled active to play by the coaching staff.
