The Kansas City Chiefs earned their first 2023 victory in the AFC West under the lights at home in Week 6 after defeating the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
The Chiefs offense didn’t put up big points on the scoreboard but showed plenty of production throughout the night. The leading receiver was once again tight end Travis Kelce, and rookie Rashee Rice has emerged as a new favorite option for Patrick Mahomes. The consistency of running back Isiah Pacheco has been essential to the team’s ball control and wearing out the opposing defensive line.
On defense, the unit kept Russell Wilson uncomfortable and ineffective throughout the night. Sacks from Chris Jones and Justin Reid and forced turnovers held the former Super Bowl champion to a woeful 95-yard passing and two interceptions.
The Chiefs dominated the Broncos’ offense while efficiently controlling the ball to secure the victory.
Here’s a look at how the stock is trending for some players after the Week 6 victory at Arrowhead Stadium:
Stock Up: Travis Kelce
Kelce gutted through the ankle pain to put on a show for his special guest, Taylor Swift, as he tallied nine catches for 124 yards, averaging 13.4 yards per reception.
Stock Up: Chris Jones
Jones was a standout performer in applying pressure on Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson as he recorded a sack for the eighth consecutive game.
Stock Up: Patrick Mahomes
Mahomes was sharp and connected with Kelce and other receivers, often finishing Thursday’s victory with 306 yards and one touchdown.
Stock Up: Justin Reid
Reid was all over the Broncos receivers and helped slow the passing game with an interception and sack.
Stock Up: Harrison Butker
Butker was clutch and effective as he connected on four field goals, including a 60-yard attempt.
Stock Down: Mike Edwards
Edwards is on the stock-down side this week because of his late-game roughing the passer penalty that led to the Broncos scoring a touchdown on the drive, ending the defense’s shutout.
