It has been well-documented that RB Isiah Pacheco had two offseason surgeries to repair a torn labrum and a broken bone in his hand.
Both injuries hindered him during the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LVII. They also limited his availability in OTAs and the early portion of team activities this offseason.
Speaking to media members on Thursday, Pacheco provided a positive update on his status.
“I’m feeling great right now,” Pacheco said. “It’s a process. It takes time. I just continue to listen to the staff and trust myself.”
The 24-year-old running back gave insight into the process to get ready for the Super Bowl. He gave credit to the training staff for preparing him to play in what would be the biggest game of his career thus far.
“It wasn’t bothering me, we had two weeks to recover,” Pacheco explained. “I was good with the recovery we did with the staff, and I was able to play, they got me right.”
Pacheco has participated in training camp practices for two consecutive days now, but still wears a yellow non-contact jersey, sitting out of team drills. He is anxious and ready to go in full, but he wants to let the coaches make the final decision of when he is ready to handle contact in practice.
“Whenever coaches allow me to play, and when he [Andy Reid] says I’m good to go — that’s when I’m going to go out there and show,” Pacheco explained.
Availability for the start of the season has been the main question surrounding Pacheco this offseason. But, when asked if he will be available for Week 1, Pacheco quickly responded, “Absolutely.”
