The career of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has reached legendary levels following a third Super Bowl title and game MVP performance. He has plenty to be proud of in his success, but there is still a moment from his professional football beginning that he’d like to forget.
Mahomes made his intentions clear on his X account this week that he didn’t want his 40-yard dash performance from the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. “As the combine starts this week! All I ask is that @nflnetwork doesn’t use my 40 overlay anymore,” posted Mahomes.
The Network typically makes comparisons annually in different drills between current prospects and the performances of today’s NFL stars. Mahomes isn’t proud of his 4.80 time while representing Texas Tech, but it didn’t hurt his draft stock still going in the first round to Kansas City.

The coverage didn’t take note of Mahomes’ warning as they used his footage in multiple side-by-side comparisons during Thursday’s drill led by defensive linemen. The two-time league MVP has little to be embarrassed about in his career, so it’s comical that his Combine performance is still on his mind.
