Chiefs Player Gives Away Peacock to Fans After Calling Out Exclusive Broadcast

Amid growing outrage over the Kansas City Chiefs-Miami Dolphins wild-card round game being shown exclusively on Peacock, one empathetic Chiefs player took matters into his own hands.

Like many fans, Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu voiced his disappointment about the game’s broadcasting limitations on Twitter this past week. Then, on Tuesday, Omenihu decided to host a Peacock membership giveaway to give Chiefs fans what they deserve.

Omenihu posted, “Alright Chiefs Kingdom, I saw the comments and want y’all to be able to watch us play…So, I’m giving away 90 3-month Peacock memberships! To enter to win, reply to this tweet with why you should get picked. Picking winners Friday!”

Omenihu’s kind gesture would set him back roughly $1,600, a not-too-sizable price to pay to win over the hearts of Chiefs Kingdom in the postseason.

Last May, NBC Universal and the NFL agreed to a one-year deal worth roughly $110 million that gave Peacock exclusive rights to broadcast the Saturday 8 p.m. game on wild-card weekend.

This year will be the first in which an NFL playoff game is only available on a streaming service—the sole exception is that fans in Kansas City and Miami can watch the game for free on their local NBC affiliates.
