Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided a brief injury update following the final practice of the week on Friday.
He started by declaring three players out of the Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills.
“The guys that will be listed as out will be Bryan Cook, (Rashad) Fenton and (Tershawn) Wharton,” Reid said. “And we’ll see about (Trent) McDuffie.”
Cook hasn’t practiced all week due to a concussion suffered in Week 5. Fenton has been dealing with a hamstring injust that has kept him out of practice. Wharton, of course, tore his ACL and will soon be placed on injured reserve.
As for McDuffie, who was designated to return from injured reserve this week, Andy Reid said that he was leaning toward giving him another week before activating him to the 53-man roster.
“Yeah, I’d probably lean the other way,” Reid said. “I’d probably just rest him up this week. He had a good week of practice, but there is a good chance we rest him up. I just haven’t had a chance to talk with the guys yet.”
As for Harrison Butker, Reid gave a definitive answer that the starting kicker would be back out there for Week 6.
“Yeah,” Reid said of Butker playing.
Butker was pivotal in the last game against the Bills, nailing the game-tying field goal to send things to overtime in the 13-second drive. His consistency and range kicking the ball have been missed and will be welcomed in a pivotal AFC game.
