The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped mandatory minicamp on Thursday with Andy Reid’s annual conditioning test.
The team is not required to provide injury updates during this portion of the offseason program. During the first two practice sessions, the Chiefs elected to not share any information on injuries suffered during practice.
On Tuesday, top rookie cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Joshua Williams both left practice accompanied by members of the training staff. Neither player was on the field for Wednesday’s practice. On Wednesday, Josh Gordon exited practice early with an athletic trainer.
Speaking to the media for the first time during the team’s mandatory minicamp, Reid provided a brief but encouraging update on those injuries.
Asked about McDuffie’s status for training camp, Reid assured reporters he’d be good to go.
“Yeah, he’ll be ready for it,” Reid said.
Asked about long-term concerns for Williams, Reid said the rookie was in the clear.
“I don’t think so,” Reid said as he shook his head. “No.”
Asked specifically about Gordon, who has impressed Reid to this point in the offseason program, it sounds like the veteran wideout narrowly avoided a serious injury.
“Yeah, he’ll be fine,” Reid said. “That one. . . he came out on the better end of that. (Better) than that could have been.”
