Chiefs HC Andy Reid expects Travis Kelce, Chris Jones to play vs. Jaguars

As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to travel to Florida for their Week 2 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, they are expected to have more firepower than they did in the season opener. The defending Super Bowl champions were missing two All-Pro players in the lineup for different reasons in Kansas City but should have them back this Sunday.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid held a brief press conference Friday after practice but delivered the news that will excite every member of Chiefs Kingdom. The green light is given for Travis Kelce, who missed Week 1 with a hyper-extended knee in practice, and Chris Jones should join him back in the lineup after his lengthy contract holdout.

“Yeah, they did a good job, yeah,” said Reid to reporters asking about the All-Pro duo’s status for this Sunday. “As long as nothing happens, they’ll be out there.”

Jones has been in practice with his teammates, getting up to speed after missing all of training camp and the preseason. At the same time, Kelce appears to be back to his routine, which included poking fun over the concern about his knee injury. Kelce was filmed jogging, stopping to limp, and immediately transitioning into a dance.

The Chiefs stars are ready to go with a renewed desire to get back in the win column this Sunday against the Jaguars, whom they defeated twice last season, one of those games in the divisional round playoffs.
