The Kansas City Chiefs kept all but one of their exclusive rights free agents.
As first reported by KC Star beat writer Herbie Teope, the Chiefs did not extend a qualifying offer to ERFA CB Chris Lammons. The Chiefs brought back CB Deandre Baker, TE Jody Fortson and RB Derrick Gore, but not Lammons.
This was an expected move given Lammons’ current legal situation in Las Vegas. He was wanted and charged in connection to the assault that took place around the Pro Bowl involving New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara. Kansas City couldn’t rightfully commit any sort of contract to Lammons while that remains unresolved.
Chiefs did not extend a qualifying tender offer to CB Chris Lammons.
Lammons, who is dealing with off-field issues in Las Vegas, is free to sign with another team.

Kansas City added Lammons to the practice squad ahead of their Super Bowl run in 2019. He was again a practice squad player in 2020, but the team elevated him to the 53-man roster frequently as a special teams ace. In 2021, Lammons made the roster outright as a gunner. He suffered an ankle injury in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. The team designated him to return from injured reserve ahead of the playoffs, but they never actually activated him from injured reserve, allowing his practice window to expire.
Lammons will likely finish his career with the Chiefs having appeared in 14 games, recording six tackles on special teams plus a fumble recovery.
