Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed says opponents are ‘steady sleeping’ on him

The divisional round matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills will feature many significant matchups. Most people will focus on the two star quarterbacks dueling it out for another classic game, but not to be ignored is the battle between L’Jarius Sneed and Stefon Diggs.

Sneed has had a successful season as the Chiefs’ top cornerback, slowing down the opponent’s top receivers weekly. He addressed his motivation and more during Thursday’s press conference.

“I think I still have more work to do,” said Sneed. “They (are) steady sleeping on me. So you know, I still got a point to prove.”

Sneed has gained more attention over the past few weeks for his incredible coverage and aggressiveness since being left off the Pro Bowl roster. He embraces the lack of respect he’s seemingly shown by critics around the league, comparing it to his humble upbringing.

“Oh, yeah, I wouldn’t say it’s all about the payday,” Sneed explained. “You know, I’ll say, you know, I’ve been facing challenges all my life. It’s always been like this for me. I’ve always had to prove myself. I’ve always been (the) underdog. So you know, just something that I always had been done my whole entire life, and I’m gonna keep it to continue to do it. Keep me hungry.”

Sneed, like many players in the NFL, echoed their displeasure about how specific sites are measuring player efficiency. He continues to prove his value goes beyond metrics as he seeks to shut down another top receiver in the league.
