Chief secretary reviews devpt work in Kotia

KORAPUT: Chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra visited disputed Kotia, which both Odisha and Andhra Pradesh claim as their own, and reviewed the ongoing development projects on Saturday.

"Much work has been done to strengthen the infrastructure of Kotia. In the coming days, apart from construction of roads and bridges, more emphasis will be given to livelihood activities for Kotia residents," Mohapatra said.

Mohapatra visited the newly-commissioned 10-bed hospital, police station and model school. "On a priority basis, permission has been granted for the functioning of a model school at Kotia, which will commence from the current academic session. Henceforth, children of Kotia will study CBSE courses while staying in their village," Mohapatra said.

The chief secretary also visited Deomali, the highest peak of the state, and declared that it will be developed into a major tourist hub.

Furthermore, Mohapatra reviewed the construction of the six-lane national highway under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, connecting Raipur in Chhattisgarh to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
