Chicken Big Mac: McDonald's forced to remove popular burger from menu days after launch

The Chicken Big Mac has been an item that fast food chain McDonald's has wanted to add to their menu for a long time - and it's one customers wanted too.

The chicken burger is the classic Big Mac McDonald's fans know and love with its reassuringly recognisable triple layered bun.

It is filled with two 100% chicken breast patties in a crispy coating, a slice of cheese, lettuce, pickles and the world-famous Big Mac sauce.

As McDonald's put its, it's basically "the most iconic and beloved burger but with an exciting new twist".

However in shocking news to Big Mac fans, the chain has announced they are pulling the item from their menu - just nine days after it's launch.

Taking to Twitter they said: "Well, that escalated quickly. Your love for the limited edition Chicken Big Mac knew no bounds and it’s sold out almost everywhere.

"Thank you for lovin’ it even more than we thought you would, it’ll be back soon."

McDonald's said it has to remove it a full month early as they were not able to keep up with the demand.

A spokesperson from McDonald’s UK&I, said: "We have been delighted by our customers’ reaction to the limited-edition Chicken Big Mac.

"The demand has been incredible and we simply cannot keep up.

"As such we’ve made the decision to pause the promotion, let our restaurant teams and suppliers restock and get ready for its return in a few weeks.

"We’ll keep customers informed about its return through the usual channels. Thank you to everyone who has made this our most popular launch ever.

"We can’t wait to bring it back for even more customers to enjoy."

Reacting to the news one said: "This has broken my heart."

Another added: "Nooooo I haven't had a chance yet! I am devastated."

In response to that tweet, McDonald's replied: "Don't worry, it'll be back soon! Stay tuned and we'll be the first to let you know."
