Chicago Police Arrest Four Venezuelan Migrants For Robbery

Migrants seek shelter at the District 12 station of the Chicago Police Department in Chicago

Chicago police recently arrested four Venezuelan migrants who were accused of choking and robbing a man on a city train. The incident occurred on a Saturday, where the four men allegedly robbed and beat a 49-year-old man on a CTA train. The victim lost consciousness during the attack but has since recovered, thankfully.

Authorities acted swiftly and were able to locate the four suspects less than an hour after the crime took place. It was revealed that the address listed for the suspects was a migrant shelter. However, the Chicago Police Department did not confirm the legal statuses or their specific address to resources.

This incident comes at a time when Chicago is grappling with a significant migrant crisis, with over 35,000 people arriving in the city since August 2022. The situation is not unique to Chicago, as other cities like New York have also witnessed an increase in crime involving Venezuelan migrants associated with the notorious street gang Tren de Aragua.

While it remains unclear if the individuals involved in this particular case are connected to any criminal organizations, the trend of rising crime rates among Venezuelan migrants in various cities across the country is concerning. There appears to be a pattern emerging, suggesting a level of coordination in criminal activities.
