This year's Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs in the UK list has just been announced and incredibly there is only one Scottish site named – and it just so happens to be an Edinburgh favourite.
The Scran and Scallie in the capital was picked out among some of the UK's best, with the top 50 put together using hundreds of votes from food critics and writers, gastropub chefs and other food influencers.
It's the second year in a row that Scotland has been largely snubbed with no entries at all last year, making the Scran and Scallie being named for 2023 all the more remarkable.

The popular bar and restaurant, part of the group run by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin, regularly picks up awards for its excellent food and drink offering and welcoming and cosy atmosphere.
Posting on their Facebook page, the delighted Scran and Scallie team said: "As the only Scottish gastropub to be featured in the top 50, we're thrilled to be flying the flag for Scotland.
"Huge thanks to Top 50 gastropubs and congratulations to all of our fellow gastropubs featured. Well done to everyone in team Scran."
