Chhattisgarh: Operation 'Sweep Clean', Launched Before Operation 'Octopus', Called Off Due To Heavy Rainfall In August, Says CRPF

Ranchi: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Commandant MK Khan on Saturday said that Operation 'Sweep Clean', launched by security forces at Naxals bastion of 'Burha Pahar' in Jharkhand was called off due to heavy rainfall before launching operation 'Octopus', which successfully overpowered Naxalites citadel.
"Operation 'Sweep Clean', an operation of four days and three nights which was launched on August 18, had to be stopped due to heavy rainfall. The security forces again started a four-day operation 'Octopus' on September 7," MK Khan, Commandant CRPF said on the success of operation 'Octopus'

As reported earlier, 'Burha Pahar', which touches Chhattisgarh's Balrampur and Latehar as well as Jharkhand's Garhwa districts, was captured in a joint operation of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) general duty battalions, its Naxal specialised wing CoBRA, Jharkhand Police and Jharkhand Jaguar-- a special force of Jharkhand Police.
