Italian men, seeded 26th, stole the limelight on the third day of the Chess Olympiad on Sunday. They humbled third seeds Norway with 33-year-old Daniele Vocaturo (Elo 2616) holding world champion Magnus Carslen. It was the first-ever game between the players at this level.
Mongolia women stunned No. 7 seeds USA 3-1. The win was also remarkable because they had lost to USA 0.5-3.5 in their last matchup in the Olympiad at Batumi 2018.
