Gukesh’s 44-move win with black pieces against the legendary Alexei Shirov saw the 16-year-old not only register his fifth successive win in the competition but also become India’s No. 3 with 2714 ELO points on live ratings --- behind Viswanathan Anand (2756) and P Harikrishna (2724). Gukesh has risen to World no. 27 in the live rankings.
