CHENNAI: The All-India Chess Federation (AICF) is going all out to ensure the Indian teams have the best possible preparation ahead of the chess Olympiad to be held here from July 28 to August 10. After having got former World champion Viswanathan Anand as the chief mentor, AICF has roped in legendary Boris Gelfand as one of the other mentors and the 53-year-old will be here for the first camp starting from May 7.
Gelfand, who lost the 2012 World championship final to Anand, is looking forward to the assignment in Chennai. "I am quite happy to be playing a part in helping the squad with its preparations for such a big event. I have had the privilege of playing with many of the Indian players who have been named in the teams and it will be great to interact with them once again," Gelfand told TOI.
