Cheryl fans claim singer's been 'hacked' as mystery track appears on Spotify seven years after last release

Spotify has confirmed it has removed an Indonesian Christian song that mistakenly appeared on British pop star Cheryl’s artist profile after fans spotted the mix-up on TikTok.

The 42-year-old star, who has not released new music since 2019, was mistakenly credited with Yesus Kau Baik Bagiku (Jesus, you are good for me) - a track by Indonesian Christian singer Cheryl Tuasuun, leaving fans baffled.

The five-minute-and-48-second song, billed as a ‘new’ release, features none of her vocals - quickly making it clear something was amiss.

The error was first flagged by user shad123 in a now-viral video, which left viewers in hysterics given its stark contrast with Cheryl’s chart-topping hits such as Fight for This Love and Call My Name.

Addressing the camera, the creator joked: “This is a message for Cheryl Cole and Cheryl Cole only, Cheryl, you have been hacked.

“I mean, someone has hacked the mainframe.”

She went on to add: “I was in the shower and very nearly lost my life when I almost fell down the drain at the noise that came out of my phone, like, what? Where has this came from?”

The clip then shows Cheryl’s Spotify profile playing Yesus Kau Baik Bagiku (Jesus, you are good for me) by Indonesian Christian singer Cheryl Tuasuun.

The discovery prompted a wave of amused reactions online.

Yesus Kau Baik Bagiku (Jesus, you are good for me) by an Indonesian Christian singer Cheryl Tuasuun appears on her Spotify profile (Spotify)

“The fact this is real I CANNOT,” one user wrote, while another quipped: “God forbid a woman wants to branch out into a new music genre after getting into Duolingo”.

A third then admitted: “It’s been there for so long too, it always takes me by surprise every time I listen to Cheryl.”

Others suggested the confusion may have stemmed from the singer dropping ‘Cole’ and performing simply as Cheryl.

“It’s because she just goes by Cheryl now, same thing happened when Marina lost the and the diamonds, loads of albums from a Spanish singer called Marina appeared on her page,” another suggested.

However, the issue appears to have been a tagging error rather than a platform glitch.

As one user explained: “The online distributors have tagged it to Cheryl Cole by accident. This happened to me as an artist. It’s the online distributors that have done this.”

Spotify confirmed to The Standard that the track has now been removed from Cheryl’s profile, though fans may continue to see it for up to 24 hours while the change updates across the platform.

Her Amazon Music profile also features songs from different Cheryls (Amazon Music)

It is unclear how long the song had been incorrectly linked to her page.

The Standard has also learned that the same track also appears on Cheryl’s Amazon Music profile, having been also uploaded to the platform in August 2025, despite it being uploaded to YouTube some four years ago.

Also several other Cheryl’s are attached to her artist profile.

The Standard has contacted Amazon Music and Cheryl’s representatives for comment.
